Learn a new skill while channeling your inner Olympian and step into the exhilarating sport of bobsleigh, with La Plagne’s groundbreaking new experience launching in 2024. Follow in the footsteps of the cast from ‘Cool Runnings’ with this unique opportunity, and master the art of piloting a bobsleigh in a one-day course packed with thrills and excitement.
La Plagne is home to France’s only bobsleigh and skeleton track. Nestled under Plagne 1800, it echoes back to a tradition that is deeply rooted in the Alpine resort, especially as it was used in the 1992 Winter Olympics. The new course will take place on 12 January 2024 and again on 9 February 2024, and promises participants a day filled with adrenaline-pumping activities, mirroring the journey of professional bobsleigh athletes.
The immersive experience starts with a track walk, where guests will learn the secrets of finding the best line down – just like the pros. They will then discover the fascinating theory behind the sport, and how best to approach the run and handle the g-force. The highlight of the day involves two rapid (but controlled) descents in a two-person bobsleigh, with participants taking on the roles of both pilot and passenger. Plus, one final descent in a four-person racing bobsleigh with the rest of the group.
A professional pilot and certified instructors from the French bobsleigh federation will be running both events, making sure guests navigate the twists and turns of the course as safely, and enjoyably, as possible.
Finally, to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the sport, the day concludes with a technical and emotional debriefing. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on their experience, share their emotions, and gain valuable insights into the nuances of bobsleigh piloting.
