Leith to welcome SH Diana – Swan Hellenic’s latest expedition ship
Swan Hellenic’s newest addition to its fleet SH Diana will dock in in Leith on Saturday 27th July 2024 at Ocean Terminal, as she stops in the Edinburgh port on her inaugural voyage from Norway.
The overnight stop in Leith on 27th July is the ninth night of a 12-night Sailing with the Vikings expedition for SH Diana, which joined the Swan Hellenic fleet in April 2023 as the third and largest vessel.
The inaugural voyage from Norway for SH Diana traced the legendary routes of the Vikings from Tromsø, though the dramatically narrow Trollfjorden and Lofoten Islands, past the coastal beauty of Brønnøysund, Molde, and Geiranger’s majestic fjords to the UK. SH Diana then sailed to Lerwick on the Shetland Islands and onto Leith. From here the SH Diana continues the voyage to Aberdeen, Newcastle Upon Tyne and Scheveningen in The Hague to its final destination of Amsterdam. Guests will visit the city of Edinburgh to see all the main highlights.

Named after the Roman goddess of light, the moon, hunting and the wilderness, SH Diana is the largest and most advanced vessel in the Swan Hellenic fleet. SH Diana is benefits from the Maris Culinary Discovery at Sea, a culinary partnership between Swan Hellenic and chef association JRE-Jeunes Restaurateurs which brings a different JRE gourmet chef aboard each ship in a series of exclusive cruises which takes guests on a parallel voyage of gastronomic discovery. Using their culinary excellent and passion for locally sourced ingredients, the chefs prepare signature dishes, teach cooking classes and create new exciting menus.
Coming aboard SH Diana on the Edinburgh to Amsterdam leg of the itinerary, chef Nicolai Wiedmer, owner of Restaurant Eckert in Grenzach-Wyhlen, Germany, will use his culinary expertise to create the Gala Dinners.
SH Diana also features a dedicated presentation and lecture theatre overlooking the lounge, two onboard tender boats and 14 Zodiacs to facilitate shore excursions and the latest technological advancements. The ship’s polar class 6 ice-strengthened hull and extra-large stabilisers ensure a smooth and safe journey through even the most challenging waters.
