Leader in Polar Expeditions Offers Polar Photography Program Under The 24-Hour Sun
Quark Expeditions®, the world’s leading polar expedition company, has announced an immersive 2015 Polar Photography program played out against the dramatic backdrops of the extraordinary Arctic Watch Wilderness Lodge. Limited to just eight guests, the daily workshops will be led by renowned polar photographer Nansen Weber*.
Guests can expect to capture video and photography of iconic wildlife, landscapes and flora, and learn technical expertise including a Photoshop session and workshops on choosing proper camera equipment and settings. Nansen will work closely with guests to track and photograph wildlife in their natural habitats, and photograph the most scenic areas of the Cunningham Inlet during the most ideal times, including the evening “arctic golden light.”
As the first land-based polar expedition offered by Quark, Arctic Watch on Somerset Island offers the most comfortable accommodations in the High Arctic and is a world-class beluga whale observation facility. Home to thousands of active, social beluga whales and musk ox, the lodge is also situated on a known polar bear migration path. Visitors enjoy gourmet dining, fully guided all-inclusive adventure options, magnificent polar landscapes and unparalleled photography opportunities in their time at the top of the world. The photography program will be complemented with special savings for passengers on select itineraries this summer. Arctic adventurers can save £300 per person on select Quark trips to the lodge at 74°N.
“We’re delighted to offer arctic travellers this opportunity to experience the Far North at its most raw and rugged, alongside the comforts of unique lodging, and the security and leadership of experienced, knowledgeable guides,” said Quark Expeditions® President, Andrew White. “It’s a rare chance to become completely immersed in the arctic landscape – from photographing musk ox and arctic fox, to rafting the Cunningham River, kayaking among the belugas, exploring the tundra, waterfalls and canyons on foot or by ATV, to sitting down with fellow travelers for a gourmet meal of arctic char sushi.”
