Wake up and Smell the Lavender, Fromage and Truffles in Provence

Magnificently set between lavender fields, L’Isle sur la Sorgue, Saumane and the Luberon mountains, Residence Provence Country Club makes an idyllic base to explore the undisputed beauty and attractions of Provence. Whether cycling, driving, or walking there are a multitude of activities within easy distance.

The Caves of Thouzon with an underground river, stalactites and stalagmites fascinate all ages and makes an interesting stop before the natural spectacle that is the Abyss of Fontaine de Vaucluse – fifteen- and thirty-minutes’ drive respectively.

Twenty minutes to the medieval, hilltop town of Gordes an art and boutique lover’s hub with spectacular Provencal views that featured in The Good Year with Russell Crowe, before a downhill drive amongst the fragrant fields to the 11th century Abbaye of Notre Dame de Senanque or the Lavender Museum in Cabrieres-d’Avignon.

A few short miles away from Residence Provence Country Club is L’Isle sur la Sorque, a quaint, river side town renowned for its famous brocante antique markets and food specialist shops including Peche Gourmand (biscuits), Lilamund Confiseur (handmade sweets) La Cigale et la Truffe (truffier who explains how to find the black diamond) and Fromagerie de I’Isle (cheese shop).

For those wanting a breath-taking wander, The Ochre Trail weaves through fiery coloured cliffs and canyons to marvel at the dramatic wave-like formations and Roussillon, named as one of the most beautiful villages in France.  Alternatively discover Mas de la Dame, an exceptional vineyard managed by two women producers making organic wines, olive oil as well as regional cosmetics. And a grand finale to any evening would be to visit the unique Carriere de Lumiere, Baux de Provence – digital, immersive and contemporary exhibitions against stunning natural backgrounds.

For anyone keen to explore historic Avignon or enjoy lunch on the marina in Marseille, they are both just under an hour away.
