Verbier hosts the final of the IXS European Downhill MTB Cup

When it comes to mountain biking, Verbier, in Switzerland, is renowned, and has been organising international downhill competitions since 2017, after the last Swiss Cup.

From 15-17 September 2023, the fourth stage and final of the IXS European Downhill Cup will take place at the Verbier Bikepark. This exceptional event will bring together the best athletes in Verbier for a weekend of intense competition, each with a view to winning the prestigious title of winner of the European Cup.

More than 300 participants, from Switzerland and elsewhere, will compete against the clock on the “Tire’s Fire” track. Renowned for being one of the most demanding tracks in Switzerland, both physically and technically, it will be a captivating and adrenaline-filled spectacle for the public.

The start of the race is in Les Ruinettes at 2,090 meters altitude, and the finish is in Médran at 1,533 metres altitude. In total, the track is 2.2 km in length and drops more than 500 metres. It’s expected the fastest competitors should cross the finish line in less than four minutes.

From young emerging talents to elite athletes competing on a global scale, everyone will be present –  and the local competitors are expected to defend their turf. The newly formed team, Verbier Racing, made up of riders, Delphine Bulliard, Florian Bocquel, Loris Michellod and Fabrice Tirefort (Trifon), will seize this great opportunity to race in front of the home crowd.
