Toquicimes festival returns for the seventh edition, sponsored by the second most Michelin starred chef in the world

From 18 to 20 October the mountain cuisine festival, Toquicimes, will return to Megève. For the past seven years the festival has been steadily increasing the number of visitors and establishing itself as a convivial, festive and gourmet event. Toquicimes is an opportunity for Megève to showcase its many producers, food artisans and restauranteurs. It is also an opportunity to celebrate the spirit of mountain cuisine, and its values of authenticity and transmission.

For the 2024 edition, the festival will centre around the theme of the five senses. Think aromas of the fir trees or undergrowth, the freshness of the mountain peaks, the texture of the snow, the crackling of the ice… if there is one cuisine that awakens all the senses, it’s mountain cuisine.

Yannick Alléno, one of the world’s most acclaimed chefs, will sponsor this year’s Toquicimes festival. With 17 restaurants and 16 Michelin stars, Alléno is the second most starred chef in the world. Historically based in Paris, Alléno raises the bar for mountain cuisine, with his Michelin starred restaurant, 1947 in Cheval Blanc, Alléno is known for his tailor-made service and incredible work on sauces using techniques borrowed from perfumers, matching perfectly with a festival dedicated to the five senses. Alléno will be joined by president and co-founder of the Toquicimes festival, a leader on the local gastronomic scene, Emmanuel Renaut. Alongside him a number of prominent chefs and pastry chefs will lead the festival’s packed programme.

Every year, Toquicimes offers a delicious mix of activities for everyone. Visitors will be delighted to find the competition for the Best Fondue in Megève, the Best Mountain Pâté Croute, the challenge “I cook with my chef boxer” which sees chefs don a pair of boxing gloves and cook a meal,  masterclasses, workshops for children, and a producers’ market. As every year, the festival also creates surprises with new features, such as the French selection for the World Fondue Championship (which will take place in 2025 in Tartegnin, Switzerland), the family competition which this year will be dedicated to crozets, a small, square-shaped, flat pasta originally made in the Savoie region. New this year, Toquicimes invites guests to share the Savoyard Mâchon with friends or family, a tradition of gathering around a large table to enjoy mountain specialties, charcuterie, and cheeses—a must-try experience!

Toquicimes is free to attend, inviting everyone to immerse themselves in the delightful celebration of mountain cuisine. From 18 to 20 October, visitors to Megève can be part of this exceptional festival that promises to tantalise all their senses.
