Avoriaz celebrates 50 years of inventing the future with Pierre & Vacances
This winter season marks the 50th anniversary of Avoriaz, a uniquely designed winter sports resort perched on a dramatic cliff-top location in the Portes du Soleil ski area in the French Alps.

What’s New for 2016-17
New snow transport vehicle
In addition to the 25 horse-drawn sleighs that help to carry skiers around the car-free resort, Avoriaz has introduced a new snow transport vehicle. The new tracked vehicle has a futuristic appearance and is designed to transport up to 12 people in comfort along with their luggage which is stored in a large baggage compartment.
New kids’ fun zone – 3 year development plan for lil’stash
From next winter onwards, Burton snowboards and Avoriaz are developing a dedicated junior Stash for children aged 6 to14 with age-specific features, layout and decor. The zone is in the Proclou area and covers a landscape of natural side valleys, part of which is forested. Like its big brother The Stash, Lil’Stash will boast a series of features made of snow and wood: a mini boarder cross, a snake run, an XS-sized kicker, whoop-de-doos, a zone of slides and fun boxes, a zone of ‘snow surfaces’ for practising turns, a wooden bridge and an undulating forest zone.
New well-being package at 5* Premium Residence l’Amara
Pierre & Vacances is offering its customers staying at 5* Premium Residence l’Amara the chance to enjoy its programme of relaxing treatments wrapped up in its new well-being package at the Deep Nature® Spa. The package comprises one Signature Immersion Massage (50 minutes), one Exfoliating Treatment (25 minutes) and one Radiant Facial Treatment (25 minutes). This well-being package is available from as little as £138 pp.
All guests staying at the Amara holiday residence also enjoy free unlimited use of the wellbeing centre with indoor and outdoor pool, relaxation area, sauna and steam bath.
Snowboxx Festival 2017
After four sell-out years, Snowboxx festival will be taking place for its fifth year and returning to the snow-sure resort of Avoriaz for the second year running from 18th to 25th March 2017. Snowboxx offers festival-goers an eclectic range of world class DJs, igloo parties, bottomless brunches and extreme snowball fights, set against the stunning mountain backdrop of the Alps. And, with headliners including Basement Jaxx, Wilkinson and Hannah Wants, those who have never skied before will have the ideal introduction to their ski holiday.
New for 2017: Due to the popular demand of previous years, the festival has nearly doubled its capacity for 2017 making it one of the biggest festivals on snow in Europe. It has become the ultimate all-round ski holiday experience for music-loving skiers, thrill-seekers and revellers. The increased capacity will see a much bigger Festival Village, even more music and festival entertainment, and more accommodation options to suit all budgets.
