AliKats Mountain Holidays introduce two new chalets and take high altitude service to the next level.

Chalet de L’Ange

AliKats Mountain Holidays are truly exceptional catered chalet holidays delivered by Al and Kat Judge. The personal combination of the name is a reflection of the two characters at the heart of this niche operator and their dedication to providing tailored and heartfelt holidays. Guests of AliKats are treated to hot-tubs with epic views, cosy log fires, superb skiing in Morzine and  Avoriaz and outstanding food & wine that can be custom-cooked to serve every specialist dietary need. New to the 2014-15 season AliKats has introduced two stylish and beautiful chalets  

After a painstaking search for new chalets that would live up to the high standard of flagship Chalet ‘La Ferme a Jules’ Al and Kat found ‘the one’, or ‘two’ in this case, in the traditional village of Montriond.

Montriond is a charming and peaceful village on the edge of Morzine, situated just 5 minutes drive from the town centre and the main Ardent Gondola. The AliKats ski-time pledge ensures skiers can access the heart of the Avoriaz ski area 10-15 minutes faster than if they were staying in central Morzine. At the end of the day it’s also possible to ski all the way back down to the car park where the AliKats team greet guests and whisk them back to a hot-tub in under 6 minutes. The friendly local bar, shops and restaurants of Montriond are just a short walk away. AliKats aim for guests to enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of the location without missing out on the central Morzine action. 

New Chalet De L’Ange

Chalet De L’Ange was designed by revered local architect Herve Marullaz and is beautifully stylish and spacious. The contemporary design compliments the stunning surroundings and Marullaz’s clever use of light and space ensures epic mountain views can be enjoyed from every room. An example of Marullaz’s fine design is the sunken indoor jacuzzi – the unique feature is encased by dramatic floor-to-ceiling glass windows that frame the panoramic mountain views and add real glamour to the chalet. The same inspiring views can be enjoyed from multiple balconies and outdoor seating areas. The chalet sleeps 12-14 guests in equally proportioned en-suite bedrooms. There is a comfortable living area with an open fireplace and entertainment system for evenings in, and a modern dining room which showcases original furniture and lighting by acclaimed Danish designer Poul Henningsen. All these features add to the chalet’s unique personality and distinguish it from other alpine rentals.  

New Riverwood Lodge 

Riverwood Lodge was named for the large driftwood chandelier that strikes a pose above the dining room table. The centrepiece was found in the local river and is a fitting focal point for this classic alpine chalet. The private family chalet has been refurbished to very high standard with expert input from Al and Kat on the layout and finish. They know what their most discerning guests look for in a catered chalet and have made sure they will find it here. Also located in Montriond, the chalet shares the same inspiring views as ‘La Ferme A Jules’ – these are best enjoyed from the outdoor hot tub and balconies. The traditional and wholesome decor includes a feature fireplace in the lounge, exposed stone walls and original wooden beams. The chalet sleeps 10-16 in five en-suite bedrooms. Three of the five rooms are specific family rooms with alpine bunk beds which are hugely popular with children. There is also a separate cinema room with huge comfy sofas and flat screen TV so guests can spread out and enjoy a film after a tough day on the slopes. Whilst authentic and cosy, the luxury fixtures and fittings take this chalet to the next level of comfort.

Impressively delicious food and flexible catering for specialist diets 

Food is Kat’s passion and she spends a huge amount of time and effort ensuring all meals in the chalets are of a truly exceptional standard.  AliKats don’t compromise on the quality and variety of ingredients which means menus consist of interesting, lovingly prepared, delicious dishes.

AliKats also have lots of experience in catering for those on restricted diets or those with food allergies and sensitivities. The latest research shows that 1-2% of the UK population has severe food allergies and between 20-30% suffer from some degree of food intolerance at any one time. This can restrict holidaymakers to self catering accommodation when faced with commonly inflexible catered options. AliKats pride themselves on maintaining the standard of delicious food and will research and deliver tasty tailored menus to meet the individual needs of each guest.* Chalet La Ferme A Jules also has two kitchens which enables them to keep one dairy and gluten free.  

The team work with family member and food expert, historian and writer Michelle Berriedale Johnson; editor of Foods Matter websites and founder of Free from Food Awards (invaluable resources for those with food sensitivities and allergies) .AliKats use Michelle’s Allergy Catering Manual and guidance to plan ‘free from’ menus and adhere to the best practice in food preparation. AliKats will also consult with guests before they travel to ensure they receive the same level of choice and quality of food during their stay, regardless of their needs.

Hand in hand with good wine

To compliment good food you must have good wine and the best wine is unlimited. AliKats supply a range of at least four different reds and four different whites to ensure guests don’t tire of drinking the same tipple every night and there’s something available for every taste. Wines are also matched to the food to provide the best possible dining experience each evening. In addition to great taste, the wine supply is unlimited and not just served with meals so guests never have to pay extra to drink before or after dinner. This helps keep costs transparent and ensures guests receive great value for money.

When asked about the introduction of the new chalets Al and Kat said: “After running La Ferme a Jules for two years we felt we’d built a really strong foundation and were thrilled by the reaction of our guests. We’ve received fantastic feedback and have been delighted by the number of repeat visits and requests. Rather than turn guests away we decided to take on new chalets… but not just any old chalets would do! It’s taken us a fair while, and we’ve hunted through a good 50 properties, but these two finally live up to our – and hopefully our guest’s – discerning standards.
