Matthieu Foussat, Head of Mountain Services at Megève, oversees the maintenance of the cross-country ski area and hiking trails, with a growing emphasis on environmental conservation. In Jaillet, efforts to protect the local ecosystem have led to the renovation of the Sentier du Tétras-Lyre, an educational forest trail dedicated to raising awareness about the black grouse. Designed to reduce disturbances to wildlife while improving safety and accessibility, the trail now features two redesigned loops of 1 and 3.5 km. Educational signage developed in collaboration with the National Forests Office (NFO) highlights key environmental issues including global warming, soil erosion, and the black grouse habitat. Easily accessible via the Jaillet cable car or from the Frasses car park, the trail offers a gentle walk through wetlands and forests. It will be officially inaugurated on Nature Day, 24 May 2025 with activities including a guided walk and an art workshop focused on the black grouse. The event is open to all, starting at 10:00 am at the Frasses car park, and finishing with an outdoor morning tea.
