VIP SKI makes waves in the luxury chalet scene in Avoriaz, France

Introducing three luxurious and bespoke chalets located in the heart of Avoriaz

Building on the success of VIP SKI’s flourishing chalet expansion in Avoriaz during winter 2018/2019, VIP SKI is excited to announce the planned opening of three brand-new chalets ahead of winter 2019/2020.

Having secured another fantastic plot of land located in the centre of the futuristic, car-free ski village, VIP SKI plans to construct three chalets that blend seamlessly with both Avoriaz’s avant-garde reputation and the area’s rich, natural beauty.

The new chalets continue a trend that sees Avoriaz develop from its previous base of largely self-catered accommodation to more up-market offerings, with VIP SKI paving the way for much of this transformation.

Andy Sturt, owner of VIP SKI says: “With any ski property, altitude and location are key, we have achieved this by choosing to build at 1850 metres, on the slopes and in the centre of Avoriaz. VIP SKI’s guests want a comfortable, stylish home to enhance their stay, made possible with impeccable interior design delivered with aplomb by Laughland and Jones”.

The location is fantastic, 1840m altitude, just above the downtown central amphitheatre, bars, restaurants, ski school, ice rink, beginners area and hubbub of the resort with spectacular views of the surrounding mountain panorama. A short walk to the very heart of the town, ski away from the front door and back to within a few hundred yards.

Guests staying at the new Chalet Kipnuk, Chalet Ipaka and Chalet Sakami will be able to explore the extent of the Portes du Soleil ski area in the French Alps, a vast and endlessly-varied playground, boasting 197 ski lifts, 650 km of pistes, 10 terrain parks and oodles of off-piste with a trans-frontier alliance and access to a dozen ski villages in France and Switzerland in between. To boot, Avoriaz is notorious for its snow record with approximately eight metres a season; the best in the Portes du Soleil.

The largest of the three new chalets, Chalet Kipnuk sleeps up to eight guests across three bedrooms; a fantastic option for larger groups and families. Residing above the hub of Avoriaz town centre, the chalet’s location is central enough to make for trouble-free access to the ski lifts and restaurants whilst enjoying enough seclusion to remain peaceful. Each en-suite room has stunning views over the resort and can be presented as either a twin or a double, one with additional bunk beds. An open-plan living and dining area makes up the heart of the chalet while the floor-to-ceiling windows draw in spectacular mountain vistas. The comfy sofas by the chalet’s crackling fireplace make for a homely spot to relax together before enjoying a three-course evening meal prepared by the chalet’s host. A seven-night stay, starting 15 December 2019, at Chalet Kipnuk, costs from £1,279 pp based on two people sharing a room. Price includes chalet-board catering, return flights from London Gatwick and transfers.

Enjoying the same fantastic location as Chalet Kipnuk, the interior of Chalet Ipaka blends sophisticated luxury with traditional Savoyard influences and sleeps up to six people. Panoramic windows beset the dining area and a circular window at the head of the table adds distinct character to the chalet. The dining room is part of the open plan living area, where a fire place, flat-screen TV and balcony offer a post-ski sanctuary for warming up and relaxing. The wood panelling and amber hues evoke authentic architecture whilst chic, matte finishes and smooth lines are reminiscent of more contemporary designs.

Chalet Sakami also sleeps up to six guests and presents an intimate retreat for smaller parties. An open-plan living and dining area serves as the chalet’s core; the large windows welcome spectacular mountain panoramas whilst the contemporary-style fireplace offers comforting warmth. Whilst remaining in keeping with the village’s Alpine aesthetic, the chalet possesses modern finishes such as flat-screen televisions, chic, luxurious sofas and harmonious, blended tones. The tasteful interior makes for a charming environment to enjoy a glass of wine and socialise after a day exploring the expansive Portes du Soleil ski area.
