Verbier crowned “World’s Best Ski Resort 2021” at the World Ski Awards
After being awarded with the title of “Switzerland’s Best Ski Resort” in 2018 and 2019, Verbier has been voted best Swiss ski destination for the third time in four years and, for the first time, the “World’s Best Ski Resort 2021” at the World Ski Awards.
Thanks to Verbier’s fans, Verbier was able to collect the greatest number of votes, beating 25 other prestigious ski resorts to the title.
Simon Wiget, Director of Verbier Tourisme, says: “We would like to thank all the tourist partners of the destination who bring Verbier to life and make it shine internationally; without them, this award would not have been given to us. This victory is that of the entire destination, of shopkeepers, hoteliers and other professionals in Verbier and Val de Bagnes; it is also that of our day-to-day ambassadors, secondary and annual residents, seasonal workers, and even our loyal customers”.
Laurent Vaucher, Director of Téléverbier, adds: “We are very happy to win the title of World Best Ski Resort 2021. Our mission is to constantly improve our products, our services, and always offer a friendly welcome, so this prize rewards the work of all the service providers in the region”.
The World Ski Awards also distinguished the W Hotel Verbier, which for the sixth consecutive year wins both Best Ski Hotel in Switzerland and Best Ski Hotel in the World.
Pierre-Henri Bovsovers, who has been General Manager of W Verbier since its opening in 2013, is extremely grateful. He says: “It is thanks to the professionalism and passion of our staff, as well as the trust of our owners, that this is possible. We are constantly seeking to improve – whether in terms of service, infrastructure or hotel services – we are always moving forward, and we make the satisfaction of our customers our priority”.
Perched at 1,500 metres altitude in the heart of the mountains, with its slate-roofed chalets, Verbier has carefully maintained its charm as an Alpine village. The World Ski Awards™ organisation describes itself as “the only global initiative to recognise, reward and celebrate excellence in ski tourism”. The annual three-day event is the only time international industry leaders meet, on a global stage, to exchange local knowledge, innovations, and best practice principles on a global stage. Launched in 2013, this initiative has rewarded industry professionals each year, in multiple categories, such as “Best Ski Resort”, “Best Ski Hotel”, “Best Ski Boutique Hotel”, or “Best Ski Chalet”.
