Refresh, relax and re-energise in Les Villages Nature® Paris’ water park
As schools start to break up for summer and the warm weather across Europe is predicted to continue, holidaymakers looking to make the most of the great outdoors, in a more refreshing way, will find a pleasing escape at Les Villages Nature® Paris. Just 30 km from France’s capital, families, friends and couples are invited to chill or be thrilled in the heart of the resort’s impressive water park: the Aqualagon.
Thirty-five metres high and designed to resemble an origami creation, the Aqualagon is an architectural feat conceived by Jacques Ferrier and is the symbol of the eco-friendly holiday village that sits on the outskirts of Paris. It is one of the largest water parks in Europe with an interior structure measuring 9,000 m² which merges into 2,500 m² of open-air lagoons. All the water, both inside and out, is heated to 30°C throughout the year by geothermal energy, making it the best place to recharge one’s batteries and enjoy the fresh air, even when the weather isn’t as warm.
Visitors will enter the water park to find a large expanse of water with islands and leafy vegetation dotted about, and giant slides snaking around overhead like enormous jungle branches. These eight water slides emerge from two imposing towers within the Aqualagon, where the sense of anticipation builds on the walk up to each drop. Those who want to take things easy can start by gently bobbing along in a rubber ring on Aqua Racer before moving on to Lifter, which propels people upwards along the slide in their rubber rings. Amplifying the thrills and spills, Crater allows visitors to descend the tube solo or in tandem and opens up into a huge half pipe for the ultimate rush of adrenaline. To graduate from the Aqualagon school of fun, The Rocket is a must. Here, visitors will step into a transparent capsule, push a green button, hear a booming voice count down from three and feel the trapdoor open underneath their feet, causing them to plummet down a sheer drop. Luckily, the Lagon café is on hand serving tea, coffees and treats to calm the nerves of those who have dared themselves to the max.
For those not tempted by the water slides, the Aqualagon’s extensive facilities include a swimming pool, paddling pool, hot tub area, water trees, an aquatic climbing wall, a Deep Nature® spa and smaller slides for children to enjoy. Thanks to the transparent glass structure, the water park is bathed in natural light however, those who wish to access the outside can swim through to the open-air lagoons that merge into the indoor pool. Here, they can gaze at the resort from the infinity pool, tackle the obstacle course and float around in the lazy river, while jets of water, geysers and bubbles create a fun-filled aquatic paradise. Parents wishing to lay back and sunbathe will have a good vantage point as their children splash about safely in the pools that are supervised by numerous lifeguards.
The Aqualagon also provides a range of water-based fitness classes where holidaymakers can work out in an enjoyable way, whether it’s fun and fast-paced or satisfyingly serene. Start the day with a morning swim or stretching session in the water, a gentle way to wake up and prepare for the day’s adventures. Next, try a jovial Aquajump session, which involves bouncing around on trampolines in the pool, following the moves of an instructor. Those who really want to get their blood pumping can work out in the Aquacardio or Aqua Bike classes; they’ll be sure to work up an appetite before a hearty dinner in one of the resort’s restaurants.
After all that exercise and excitement, guests can head to the water park’s spa to pamper themselves. Comprising a salt cabin, sauna, hammam, relaxation area, herbal tea room and more, the Deep Nature® spa also offers a range of treatments and massages for adults and children, allowing families to unwind together. Parents with babies (aged one month old and upwards) can take part in a baby-massage session, learning how to help relieve stomach ache and relax the body. Massages for children aged from six to 14 years are also available. And, for the ultimate treat, spa-goers can indulge in the Four Elements Signature Treatment, which is unique to Les Villages Nature® Paris and promises a sensory journey around the four Greek elements of water, earth, air and fire.
Access to the Aqualagon, and the four other immersive worlds, is included in the price of the stay at Les Villages Nature® Paris. Certain fitness classes and access to the Deep Nature Spa are not included.
