Make yourself at home in Meribel

Mountain Retreat now offers new heights of luxury

This winter Meribel Mountain Retreat is opening its doors for the first time in the beautiful picture-postcard village of Le Villard, Meribel-les Allues. Les Allues village is hundreds of years old, with a beautiful chapel dating back to 1645. Although only a short 15-minute bus or gondola ride away from the buzzing Three Valleys scene Les Allues’ pretty, traditional heart offers an authentic French experience. Meribel Mountain Retreat is the last chalet in the tiny hamlet of Le Villard above Les Allues. The location wraps guests in total peace and seclusion a snowballs throw away from the action.

This very special retreat consists of two traditional stone chalets that will both inspire and enchant. Guests will be treated to peace and tranquillity rarely found in major ski areas anywhere across the globe, giving them the opportunity to take in the beautiful Alpine views and setting at their own pace – and with the people they love. Les Allues is just a four minute private drive away. From there skiers are whisked up to Meribel centre on the Olympe Gondola directly into Meribel Chaudanne, where major lifts access the whole of the Three Valleys ski area.

Outside, the chalets marry perfectly to the landscape, nestled between the surrounding orchards and slopes that define the area’s natural beauty.

With breathtaking views to the glaciers of La Plagne, the chalet, set in its own secluded orchard, looking toward the Three Valleys, and watching over the centuries old mountain villages. It also offers views out to the Bozel Valley, all the way towards the Vanoise national park and across to the magnificent 3400m Grande Bec peak.

Inside, the chalets are subtly and tastefully decorated, offering a warmth and welcome that complements the refreshing Alpine weather.

The main chalet houses twelve guests, with six bedrooms and five bathrooms, although more beds and space are available in the master bedrooms if required. With an individual art deco interior, access to the glass roof, and a generous 16m dining table to accommodate all of the guests together, the chalet offers both style and comfort.

The little chalet offers stunning views and sleeps four to six, with a double bedroom on the mezzanine layer and two sofa beds downstairs.

During summer 2015 there will be a state-of-the-art sauna house with Jacuzzi and fitness machines fitted for guests to relax and enjoy.

There is even a butler service as part of the holiday packages. Every morning breakfast is prepared, fires are set and bedrooms and bathrooms tidied. Guests are driven to the ski lifts and groceries are arranged – while a free car hire service offers the scope to explore further afield.

And there is much to explore . . . and ski! The Three Valleys is the world’s largest ski area where groomed pistes cover 650km of trails among a wealth of off-piste skiing opportunities, from low and mid-altitude forest to high alpine glaciers.

Les Allues is where many of the older and wiser seasonaires reside alongside many born-and-bred Savoie locals. The church and bars like La Tsaretta and La Jean – Claude are worth exploring in this pretty village and give rise to a truly authentic French experience.  With so much snow fun on offer, guests are certain to build up a healthy appetite. The good news is they can satisfy their greatest gastronomic desires by hiring a top class chef, so that everyone’s taste buds are treated too. This service is available at 100€ per night for the chef and the ingredients are included.

Prices for the Meribel Mountain Retreat start from £565 to £2,995 per night (£5240 per week) over the winter ski season on accommodation only. The price is for the whole property, including the main and little chalet. Maximum occupancy in the main chalet is 12 (+2) and in the little chalet 6.
