Le Boat wins Project Team of the Year accolade at the Real IT Awards
Le Boat has won the ‘Project Team of the Year’ category at the Real IT Awards (RITA’s), for the hard work that they carried out on the travel company’s new website. The prestigious ceremony, which took place on 9 May at the Hilton London Bankside, is now in its sixteenth year and celebrates excellence and achievement in the corporate IT sector.
Part of Travelopia, Le Boat is the No.1 provider of boating holidays on Europe and Canada’s beautiful inland waterways, with the world’s largest fleet of over 900 self-drive boats. Their project team were recognised for the conception, design, development and delivery of a new platform that employs the latest web technology and allows users to enjoy a seamless search and booking experience.
The overall project objective was to fully re-vamp the Le Boat website, which was originally launched in 2012. Beginning in 2017, the team were tasked with not only delivering a dynamic and user-friendly new platform, but also with the overhauling of the site’s back-end infrastructure, with a view to increasing online conversion rates across a range of international markets. The award-winning website was delivered in full in December 2018 and now offers desktop and mobile users an improved experience, with simpler, clearer and better navigation and holiday search functionality. Minor instability issues have also been addressed and online customers now have more questions pre-empted, reducing the need for avoidable calls to the Le Boat sales office.
More than 80 companies made over 140 RITA award submissions to the judging panel, with Le Boat’s entry standing out for its innovation and for its in-depth analysis of the project. What’s more, the results speak for themselves, since the launch of the new website, overall hard conversion rate is up 0.04%, which has helped to drive an incremental £400k+ of revenue to date.
Cheryl Brown, Managing Director of Le Boat said, “We are delighted that the Le Boat team have been recognised in this way. The website has been something of a labour of love and represents the culmination of an enormous amount of work both for the Le Boat and the wider Travelopia team. As we strive to improve every aspect of our on and offline presence, projects like this not only give us a huge amount of pride, but also demonstrates our commitment to our customers in the UK and across our international markets.”
