In Val d’Isère the highest runs start at a mighty 3456m and the ski season continues right up until the first weekend of May. You can enjoy long, sunny days with usually superb snow conditions.
Judging by present excellent snow levels, this promises to be a vintage season for spring skiing. In late March and April the snow crystals change in consistency, transforming the whole mountain into a giant piste.
Not everyone realises that this time of year offers some of the best skiing of the entire winter. Hit the lifts as soon as they open, spend the morning chasing the sun around the mountains, catching the snow in that window when it’s neither too hard nor too soft. Then retire to the sunny terrace of a mountain restaurant for a late lunch and a lazy afternoon.
