Austrian Alpine Open 2026 to Debut in Kitzbühel, Tirol
Kitzbühel, a destination synonymous with sporting tradition, joie de vivre, and world-class international events, is set to welcome a new highlight to its prestigious sporting calendar. From 28 to 31 May 2026, the DP World Tour will make its first appearance at the renowned Golf Course Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith, hosting the Austrian Alpine Open presented by Kitzbühel – Tirol, Austria’s largest golf event.
Weeks ahead of the tournament, the course will already be prepared in prime condition. From 25 May 2026, leading international players will begin their preparations during official practice days, building anticipation for a high-calibre competition. The event will officially open with the Pro-Am tournament on 27 May 2026, where professionals and amateurs come together to celebrate the sport.
Home Advantage for Austria’s Top Talent
A major highlight of the 2026 edition will be the participation of Austria’s leading golfer, Sepp Straka. Currently ranked world No. 13, Straka is Austria’s most successful golfer of all time, a two-time Ryder Cup winner, and a four-time PGA Tour champion. Competing on home soil, he is expected to draw significant local and international attention.
Joining him is Bernd Wiesberger, an eight-time DP World Tour winner and Austria’s first Ryder Cup participant, further strengthening the national representation at the event.
Rising star Maximilian Steinlechner, a tour newcomer and ambassador for Golf in Tirol, will also compete. Following his impressive third-place finish on the 2025 HotelPlanner Tour, Steinlechner is considered one of Austria’s most promising talents heading into the 2026 DP World Tour season.
