The Tour de France rides into Morzine in the French Alps

The 2022 Tour de France route was unveiled in Paris on Thursday morning, with the 109th edition of the Grand Boucle set to include the Alpine resort of Morzine in the Portes du Soleil. After a stage finish in nearby Châtel on Sunday 10 July, competitors, spectators and the media will have the opportunity to enjoy a rest day in Morzine on Monday 11 July. Riders will then set off on a gruelling yet spectacular stage through the mountains on Tuesday 12 July, concluding in the resort of Megève.

2021 Tour de France winner Tadej Pogačar was at the Palais des Congrès in the French capital to see the route revealed alongside new world champion Julian Alaphilippe and 2021 green jersey winner and Brit Mark Cavendish. The 2022 edition will take place 1-24 July, with the Morzine to Megève leg comprising a 148km route that will form the first of three Alpine stages taking place during the second week of the competition. It is six years since the Tour de France last descended on Morzine, and it will be the 21st occasion that it has been staged there since the event was first hosted in the French village in 1975.

During the Tour de France Morzine is expected to be a buzz with excitement, with holidaymakers and members of the public encouraged to soak up the atmosphere alongside the travelling spectators and the participating teams.
